The first competition of the Melges 32 class will be held in Porto Venere, Italy from 31st of March till 2nd of April.
Melges Performance Sailboats introduced the new type of competitions, the Melges World League (MWL), uniting several classes from different countries. The Melges World League includes the Melges 20 and the Melges 32 in the North America, Europe, and Asia. The main idea of the MWL is to unite these classes into a professional international League, run by Melges.
The first competition of the Melges 32 will be held already this weekend in Italian Porto Venere. For now, there are 15 teams registered from Italy, Monaco, Turkey, Germany, Norway and Russia. Russia will be represented by Tavatuy of Pavel Kuznetsov. Skipper from Ekaterinburg gathered an amazing team: Konstantin Besputin (main trimmer), Oleg Krivov (pit), Evgeny Neugodnikov (tactician), Alexander Patrushev (bow), Anton Sergeev (offside trimmer), Artem Soloveychik (mid mast), Valeriy Zatsarinskiy (mast). Vincenzo Onorato’s Mascalzone Latino was the winner of the Melges 32 Summer Series last year. The composition of the team didn’t change, they just gained more experience.
In total there are five Acts planned in Melges 32 World League 2017. The closest races will be held in Porto Venere (31.03-2.04), after that Scarlino (5.05-7.05), Riva del Garda (2.06-4.06), Šibenik , Croatia (20.07-22.07). The final Act will be held in Monte Argentario in Tuscany (22.08-26.08).
