The second weekend in a row we gather news from Italian Porto Venere! In a couple hours the Melges 20 World League European Division starts, races will be held from 7th till 9th of April.
Last weekend (31.03 – 2.04) the first regatta of the Melges 32 World League was held in Porto Venere, and today the Melges 20 World League welcomes you there! We would like to remind you that Melges Performance Sailboats decided to unite several classes of their boats from different countries into a new type of competition, the Melges World League (MWL). The Melges World League includes the Melges 20 and the Melges 32 in the North America, Europe, and Asia.
The Melges 20 World League season officially started a bit earlier, in February and March in Miami, USA (Miami Winter Series). Now is the turn of the European Division with the first Act in Italy, Porto Venere.
There are more than 30 teams from Italy, Russia, Australia, Monaco, Japan, Sweden, Poland, Germany and South Africa participating. Crème de la crème of the sailors gathered here today: winner of the Winter Series in Monaco Alexander Ezhkov aboard PIRogovo, Igor Rytov’s Russian Bogatyrs, Manfredi Vianini Tolomei’s Maolca, Achille Onorato’s Mascalzone Latino Jr., Marco Francini’s Mezzaluna, Matteo Marenghi Vaselli’s Raya, Valentin Zavadnikov’s Synergy, Mag Tiny of Krzysztof Krempec, etc etc!
There are more Russian teams participating, besides mentioned above: Alexander Mikhaylik’s Alex Team, Sergey Sobolev’s Elf, Vadim Yakhinson’s Leviathan, Marina Kaverzina’s Marussia, Vladimir Prosikhin’s Nika, Alexander Novoselov’s Victor and Pavel Grachev.

Act 1: Porto Venere (7.04-9.04)
Act 2: Scarlino (12.05-14.05)
Act 3: Zadar, Croatia (9.06-11.06)
Act 4: Sibenic, Croatia (12.07-15.07)
Act 5: Riva del Garda (1.09-3.09) (Russian Championship)
